This series is comprised of photographed silhouettes on a veil which explore inner states of human nature through archetypal imagery. As an adult not raised by biological parents, I am forever intrigued by the underlying reasons, and differences, between learned and genetic behavior. Personal study of diverse myth-based cultures, including archetypes within Jungian psychology, blend in this body of work which endeavors to explore aspects of the personality that are rejected, or cannot be seen easily. The 'hard to see' concept is enhanced through the presentation of a stark image on rice paper that becomes transparent in the lighter areas when fused with wax. This creates a symbiotic relationship between figure and its environment.
Once the image is printed on rice paper, I use paint, encaustic, various found objects and other art mediums to transform the artwork into its own unique piece.
I enjoy providing these moments to individuals that need to add beauty to their lives and spaces. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly if you are interested in purchasing or would like to discuss a commission of your very own.
